That guy can't live with himself after killing his twin, he realized this whole thing was bs and was done with it. Twins do really have a strong bond in real life, when he snuck in you could tell his brother sensed something. That's just an entrée showing what this war will be like, when the enemies are blood related. Whoever survives this, they'll be traumatized for life.

I saw an interview with the actor who plays Rhaenyra and they said 2 weeks time had passed between the end of season 1 and the beginning of season 2. And to me, I think these first 2 episodes are like 2-4 days max.
